June 2020 Newsletter

We hope you’re getting excited for a weekend of Independence Day celebrations in Broadus with the Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Ag! Our theme for 2021 is “4th of July – It’s a Family Tradition!”  Join us this year in honoring the rich history and family legacies alive in our great community.

Check out the roster of activities planned for the weekend…

The festivities begin early on Saturday the 3rd with the Freedom Run/Walk sponsored by SCDC and hosted by the Powder River Trails Club.  Meet at Cottonwood Park for the 5 mile run starting at 7am, or the 1 mile run starting at 8am.  Visit powderrivertrails.com to register in advance or to find out more details.

The Home Run Derby will kick-off our softball action on Friday, July 2nd at 6pm.  Anyone can enter so whether you’re on a team or not, stop by the field and show us your swing! The co-ed softball tournament hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Powder River Little League will have games scheduled throughout the weekend starting at 8am on Saturday, July 3rd.  Spectators are welcome and concessions are available at the field from D’Z Foods.

Saturday night, join us downtown for a street dance with Way Out West at 8pm.  Due to rising insurance and other associated costs, this event almost didn’t take place this year so special thanks to our dance sponsors that made it possible – Big Sky Bar, Montana Bar, Horizon Marketing Agency and Barbero Auto & Ag Carquest!

On Sunday morning, grab your lawn chair and head to Cottonwood Park at 9am for the Community Church Service hosted by Faith Bible Church & Broadus Assembly of God. Afterwards, catch the traditional 4th of July parade, sponsored by the Chamber.  Parade entries will circle Courthouse Square beginning at 10:30am.  Do you have a ranch centennial, a family business or a big reunion? Then we invite you to take this opportunity to honor your family legacies with an entry in the parade!  Line up starts at 10am at the high school.  In keeping with our Family Tradition theme, we’re pleased to honor Slug Mills and Charlee & Beau Kuhbacher as our joint 2021 Parade Grand Marshals!  They exemplify a true family legacy with three generations of auctioneers in a local small business.  Join us in saluting Mills Auction & Real Estate and the many other family businesses that support and sustain our community!

We’ll round out our weekend of celebrations on Sunday night with the fireworks show at 9:30pm, executed by Phil Desatoff and the Broadus Volunteer Fire Department!  Enjoy the show on B-Hill thanks to our fireworks sponsors – Chamber of Commerce, Hi-Tech Auto, Barbero Auto & Ag Carquest, Olivarez Honey Bees, Powder River Diesel, BDJ Construction, Wenzel Enterprises, Copps Hardware and Broadus Boot & Tack.

It’s going to be a great weekend!
