May 2021 Newsletter

School’s out for the summer and we’re wishing all the students, teachers and faculty an enjoyable summer and sending our congratulations to the graduating class of 2021! Students of all ages and adults alike will want to check out the summer reading program starting June 4th at the Henry A. Malley Memorial Library.  Prize drawings will take place throughout the summer and for every book you read, you’re entered for a chance to win an age group prize! Check out the attached flyer for more information on Rocket to Reading! Then, visit the library or contact Cody Earley if you want to participate in the program, or if you would like to sponsor an award.

As summer sets in, plans are in motion for another fabulous 4th of July celebration in Broadus! The Freedom Run hosted by the Powder River Trails Club will kick off the weekend on Saturday, July 3rd.  Visit their Facebook page for registration information.  The Broadus Softball Tournament will take place July 3rd and 4th – follow our Facebook event page for sign-up details and updates.

Tentative plans for a street dance on Saturday night are in place as a lead up to Sunday’s Independence Day celebrations.  A community church service will be held in the park on Sunday morning, followed by the parade.  The theme for 2021 is “4th of July – It’s a Family Tradition!” Do you have a ranch centennial, a family business or a big reunion? Then we invite you to take this opportunity to honor your family legacies with an entry in the parade!

The fireworks display executed by Phil Desatoff will wrap up the weekend on Sunday evening.  We greatly appreciate our fireworks sponsors and will name contributors on our official event poster.  If you want to help us put on a fantastic show, please send your donation payable to “Powder River Chamber” to PO Box 484 in Broadus.

Watch our Facebook page for more 4th of July details as they are finalized.
