Investing in Broadus: Chamber of Commerce Unveils New Community Enhancement Projects

The Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Ag is continuing its mission to strengthen and promote Broadus' unique and vibrant downtown economy with the completion of two exciting community enhancement projects designed to welcome visitors, celebrate our agricultural heritage, and enhance the community's public spaces.

The first project, a new Grain Bin Gazebo located on the downtown square, serves as both a functional gathering space and a tribute to the agricultural roots that have shaped Powder River County for generations. The gazebo was funded by the Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Ag with grant assistance from the Powder River Community Endowment Fund.

This project was truly a community effort. The Chamber extends its sincere appreciation to Gordon and Deb Archer and Waylon and Melissa Billing of Green Acre Ranch Inc. for generously donating the grain bin top and providing transportation. The Chamber also recognizes the many volunteers whose time, equipment, and expertise made the installation possible, including Waylon Billing, Brandon Schuetzle, Gordon Archer, Bucky Billing, Dan Lynch, Kirk Askin and the Askin Construction Crew, Brooke Billing, and Grant and Jessica Beagles. The Chamber also wishes to thank Powder River County for authorizing the project and helping bring this vision to life in Broadus' beautiful downtown square.

In addition to the gazebo, the Chamber is unveiling another significant economic development initiative: newly installed "Welcome to Broadus" signs at the highway entrances to the community. Funded by the Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Ag with  grants from the Powder River Community Endowment Fund and the Montana Department of Commerce Tourism Development Grant Program, the welcome signs represent a project that has consistently ranked among the highest priorities identified during community workshops and planning meetings over the past several years.

The signs were designed, manufactured, and installed by Signs of Montana, a Bozeman-based Montana company. Chamber of Commerce Project Lead Jessica Malone is pictured with one of the newly installed welcome signs, marking the completion of a project that reflects Broadus' pride, hospitality, and commitment to creating a positive first impression for residents and visitors alike.

Together, these projects represent more than new community amenities—they are investments for the future of Broadus. By enhancing the downtown experience and creating a welcoming gateway into the community, the Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Ag continues to support local businesses, encourage tourism, and foster community pride. These accomplishments demonstrate what can be achieved through collaboration among local organizations, businesses, volunteers, and generous funding partners who share a common vision for the future of Powder River County.
